Immigration Examination Q & A

What are immigration physicals?

Immigration physicals are comprehensive physical exams your Delray Medical & Dental physician is authorized to complete as part of an application process to obtain citizenship, permanent residency, or a green card in the United States.

Physicals are required by USCIS as a condition of employment after immigrating to the US. Providers at Delray Medical & Dental are fluent in the following languages:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Romanian
  • French

They take walk-ins or scheduled appointments and offer reasonable fees for immigration physicals.

What should I bring with me to an immigration physical?

Prior to an immigration physical at Delray Medical & Dental, make sure to bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • A photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport
  • A medical insurance card if you have one
  • Vaccination and immunization records
  • Form I-693
  • A form of payment
  • Past X-ray results
  • Laboratory work
  • A list of current medications you’re taking

Come to your appointment ready to discuss your medical history, including past diagnoses and surgeries. You fill out part of form I-693 during the appointment, while your provider fills in the other portion.

What happens during an immigration physical?

Your Delray Medical & Dental physician reviews your medical history, checks your vital signs, and completes a comprehensive physical examination to evaluate your health. They examine your:

  • Ears
  • Eyes
  • Nose
  • Throat
  • Heart
  • Lungs
  • Extremities
  • Abdomen
  • Skin
  • Lymph nodes
  • External genitalia

Your doctor also completes a mental health evaluation. They use blood tests to check for communicable diseases, offer vaccinations if you need them, and complete a drug test. If you require treatment for a chronic or communicable disease, your practitioner discusses treatment options with you.

What happens after my physical?

After getting treated for a medical condition, if you have one, and passing an immigration physical, your doctor completes their portion of form I-693 and seals it in an envelope for you to submit to the USCIS with your application. They give you a copy of the completed form for your records.

The next time you or a loved one requires an immigration physical, call Delray Medical & Dental, use the online request appointment tool, or simply walk in today.
